BACKGROUND
Big Decks began life as Outside Space Landscaping, a Cheshire-based decking and landscaping business headed up by Dave, a man with a plan and 15 years experience in the outdoor home improvement industry.
DISCOVERY
Dave had grown his business steadily over the years, building a reputation for impressive transformations, decking expertise, and high-quality service. However, he was ready for a new challenge and wanted to shake things up. He brought us a new name for his business: Big Decks. Those with a cheeky disposition will chuckle, while others will envision the show-stopping deck renovations that Dave and his team deliver. Dave's philosophy is simple: you’ve got to have a laugh and not take things too seriously. The challenge was to present this concept in a way that is cheeky but not cheap, conveying professionalism and reliability while staying true to Dave’s personality.
DELIVERY
Strategy was paramount, so before tackling the visual identity, we worked with Dave to develop a clear understanding of the brand's tone of voice. This would guide when Big Decks could dial up its cheeky humour and when it should speak more professionally, depending on the target audience. We mapped out a customer journey to ensure Big Decks outperformed its competition. We introduced a strapline that balanced cheekiness with professionalism, provided assistance with trademarking, and offered brand mentorship. Finally, we crafted the logo and visual identity to convey strength, confidence, and trust, creating a solid foundation for the brand to incorporate humour into its messaging.
